PlatON Telegram Chinese group preheat Q&A

To celebrate the upcoming launch of the PlatON mainnet and to help community members better understand PlatON, a weeklong online event will be launched from April 19 to April 24, 2021. We invite you to join the PlatON Telegram Chinese Group to learn about the mission and vision of the distributed privacy AI network and to chat about related topics. We welcome the launch of the PlatON mainnet.

Below are questions and answers from the event

ID(eilinge89):At present, the public chain tends to be homogenized. Except for ETH, the personal consensus is not high, especially for developers, who are basically focused on Ethereum. What incentives does PlatON offer to developers to attract them to PlatON?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):Indeed, we note that Ethereum currently has one of the most active developer communities, including PlatON’s team, which provides algorithm design and code implementation for secure multi-party computing in Ethereum 2.0’s Proof of Custody scheme. However, we believe that this is just the current reality. In the development process of blockchain, an emerging industry, it does not mean that there will not be other development directions and space in the future.

On the one hand, PlatON, as a new network, is enriching its applications through its 2 billion LAT Computing and Symbolics Foundation, and its community of developers and researchers through the Grants program. We will create an all-around ecology in finance, medical care, advertising and other fields.

On the other hand, as a distributed privacy AI network, PlatON is not limited to developers in the field of blockchain technology, but also covers the field of privacy computing, AI, Internet of Things, sociology, psychology and other social disciplines, attracting developers and researchers from a wider range of fields to join the PlatON ecosystem. Support for various types of developers and ecological participants is provided from three completely different perspectives: data provider, algorithm provider and computing provider.

ID(sbtxr-b):Alaya is PlatON’s first network, but the code functions are the same, so why don’t developers and users play on the main network? I don’t think the iterative speed and governance mode alone will attract others.

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):Alaya, on the one hand, is Platon’s pioneering network, sharing a common vision, compliance, financing, and community, with technical trials, business validation, and community practices. But at the same time, Alaya and PlatON have different positioning and application scenarios. PlatON is mainly focused on serving data assets + model algorithms + computing power trading platform. AI-oriented, which can be understood as human brain, is mainly applied in various fields where human data are widely used, such as finance, medical treatment and government affairs.

Alaya is positioned as the world’s leading financial public chain for refactoring blockchain and DEFI application systems. It will focus mainly on financial infrastructure and trading system, for trading and transactions, can be understood as human hands and feet and perception system, will achieve the reconstruction and upgrade of the existing Wall Street system of financial paradigm. So PlatON and Alaya, one for data and one for finance, will each have their own development model and ecological composition in the future, complementing each other without conflict.

ID(zll15501532021):A lot of people don’t really care about their private data, so is PlatON going to promote privacy protection and computing through a top-down or bottom-up approach or a bottom-up community approach? On what basis does the calculation of private data have to be built to take advantage of the great advantages of the track? How long does it take to go from idea to reality?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):From an individual perspective, giving away personal privacy data in exchange for convenience is indeed the norm of the current Internet, which is determined by the business model of the Internet giants. Without the user to surrender their privacy, their business interests would not be realized, so over time they “force” the user to accept this reality. However, this business model has now reached a development bottleneck. As you can see, on the one hand, the innovation intensity of the Internet is not as strong as before, and the monopoly of the giant is actually killing the innovation ability. At the same time, governments are paying more and more attention to the protection of user privacy, and constantly introduce relevant programs.

So we believe that this situation will not last long, especially in the case of Twitter deleting Donald Trump’s account, there will be more and more thoughtful people like us who will start to devote themselves to the cause of protecting the rights of Internet users. In this context, the popularization and wide application of privacy computing technology will be jointly promoted by two approaches. On the one hand, it will come from the top-down regulatory management of government departments and the strong advocacy of enterprises and organizations; on the other hand, the bottom-up technology and application innovation from the community will also play a leading role.

Human beings are in the process of migrating to digital life. Only with the common “awakening” of users and regulatory departments can we truly build a cyberspace where power is supervised and rights are equal, and only in this space can human beings live in lasting peace and stability. We are still at the beginning, but the whole process of digitization has been greatly accelerated by the COVID-19 epidemic. We believe that in the next five to ten years, with the help of private computing technology, we will usher in a digital future that completely overturns the current monopoly of the Internet giants.

ID(dfg674707950):What is the purpose of this project? What’s on the chain and off the chain? Does your smart contract code have a third party review? I have observed in the project group that the popularity of the project is not very high. How will you attract people who do not know or know the project to come to PlatON in the future? Where will PlatON move into in the future?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):PlatON’s origins stem from irrationality or inefficiency in many areas. For example, in the financial field, there is no efficient cross-border asset flow, no 7*24 hour real-time clearing and settlement, and no unified account system to improve efficiency, which must be solved by relying on blockchain technology. For example, in the field of the Internet, the basic rights of human beings cannot be established and guaranteed in cyberspace.

For example, in the field of AI, the data needed for AI training cannot be obtained in the traditional way in the past due to the increasingly strict privacy protection requirements. Solving these real and pressing problems was PlatON’s original vision. On-chain and off-chain refer to whether the operation is carried out through the blockchain. PlatON puts the complex operation part down the chain and verifies the calculation result on the chain, so as to realize the capacity expansion of the blockchain. PlatON’s underlying code has been audited by both Slow Flag and Runtime, and the audit results are clear, with no security concerns. The CEO of Runtime has given PlatON tremendous credit for this audit process and has recently joined our team as a technical advisor.

We believe that with the release of the PlatON mainnet and the continuous release and adoption of various types of applications in the data and financial fields, we will attract more and more users to recognize, understand, support and even join PlatON. And it can be said that PlatON is not a pure public chain, it has a wider market space and application prospects, which other blockchain projects cannot.

ID(AnJing710604):Community is very important to the project, how does PlatON evaluate the importance of the user community? How will PlatON attract and expand the community in the future? What is the current number of community users?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):PlatON follows a community building principle: Community is more important than the code, the power of the community is from everyone involved really give their power and wisdom, in our eyes, each community members is a node of PlatON, with LAT connects all the nodes, including community members, only really able to build the distributed business value chain based on blocks. Since the launch of the Alaya Advance Web, we have close to 30,000 active users in the PlatON ecosystem, according to the Alaya Web browser. With the launch of PlatON’s main network, the number of users will continue to grow.

In the future, PlatON will continue to expand the community scale from the following aspects: Based on the Grants program, PlatON continues to promote ecological development by introducing PlatON-specific application models to enrich the mainnet ecosystem and attract more users to join PlatON on this basis. PlatON continues to promote business development, access to various types of blockchain-related business formats, and increase the scale of cooperation with partners. Continuously deepen the brand and community building, strengthen the relationship with the media and community partners, continue to jointly organize various types of marketing activities, and enhance PlatON’s penetration and influence on a global scale.

ID(dp13705486819):What is the ecological construction plan of PlatON? How is the layer3 cross-link doing? With how many public chains to achieve cross-chain interoperability? Does layer2 have APP as terminal? Is there a development plan?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):First of all, again: PlatON is not just a public chain, so strictly speaking it overlaps with other public chains in terms of users and developers, but it also has its own ecosystem and community building space.

PlatON is designed for the free, compliant flow of data assets around the world, so PlatON users and developers are not locked into the current public chain ecosystem.

PlatON’s ecology and community building will focus on data, algorithms and computing power for the following objects: Data providers: the owners of various types of data, through the data circulation platform, to help their data to achieve value. And the way the data is provided is completely different from before. The data can be kept locally, which on the one hand absolutely guarantees the privacy of the data, but also generates value in circulation and computation. The range of data providers is very wide, including not only institutions and enterprises, but also individuals in the future.

Algorithm Providers: Developers of various forms who will provide algorithms through smart contracts. Developers of various forms of applications, such as DEFI and NFT, which are familiar to us now, can all be grouped into algorithm providers in PlatON.

Power Provider: Verify the calculation through PlatON, so that the power can be outsourced. The computing provider will receive and perform the computing tasks in PlatON’s system, and will be rewarded. The current mine owner or pool can be converted to PlatON’s power provider.

PlatON has already achieved cross-chain connectivity with Ethereum and Polkadot, and will achieve cross-chain connectivity with more public chains in the future, please look forward to it.

On the Layer2 APP terminal issue, on the one hand we will definitely work with the major wallets on the market today to make them part of PlatON’s Layer2 portal.

Also in PlatON’s white paper, you’ll notice that we have plans for a cross-platform, universal client called Edge. Edge will be for future data, algorithmic models, and computing power transactions, so it will be PlatON’s exclusive Layer2 integrated platform. In the future, the specific design and development of EDGE will definitely rely more on the power of the community.

At the same time, Alaya and PlatON have different positioning and application scenarios. PlatON mainly focuses on a platform serving data assets + model algorithms + computing power trading. It is AI oriented and can be understood as human brain, and its main application scenarios are various fields where human data are widely used, such as finance, medical treatment and government affairs.

ID(suntao201306):PlatON is a private computing platform that will be used in healthcare, the Internet of Things, finance and more. For example, in the financial industry, user data can be considered as the core of the enterprise. How to persuade the enterprise to use PlatON? One part of the Internet finance industry is the credit investigation industry.

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):This question asks about the nature of data and how private computing plays a role in the sharing and flow of data. The simple way to put it is that companies must not be “persuaded” to adopt PlatON, but rather that they will adopt it spontaneously because they have an endogenous need for it.

First, as data becomes more widely used, we can note that “data” assets are inherently partially public, as opposed to the fully private nature of other assets.

Based on data mining related industry will be more and more found that single source credibility of data and the lack of “value”, “value” of real data should be more have more source, multi-dimensional, continuing operations in many ways such as characteristic, based on the analysis of the “data”, so the future will be more and more is not limited to a single body of supply.

At the same time, the definition of data value can not be limited to a single data supply. Based on the “public attribute” of incomplete privatization of data, the realization of intrinsic value is inseparable from the reasonable realization and definition of its public attribute and private attribute, that is, the value of data needs to be realized by the cooperation between various parties. “Synergy” creates value, not separate ratings, valuations and pricing.

Therefore, in the future, enterprises will be increasingly “eager” to use data from more sources to carry out multi-party joint computing. Meanwhile, they also hope that their own data will become a new kind of asset to obtain pricing and generate value, which makes enterprises spontaneously generate the demand for sharing data and circulating data.

In the past, the data sharing mode based on plaintext actually has serious problems in security and compliance. The fact that the big data centers built around the country are basically abandoned shows that the traditional data sharing mode does not work.

PlatON’s core technology, private computing, is a new way of data sharing, enabling data to participate in multi-party calculations without leaving the local area and without the need for plaintext transmission, so that the results can be obtained by all parties involved. It can not only protect data privacy, but also make data generate value in circulation. This characteristic determines that privacy computing is the most basic and important information technology in the future digital age.

ID(redaixiaoyuer520):From PlatON’s point of view, its core is what should data do in the digital age? How to redefine the relationship between data providers, platforms, and regulators on the data processing dimension? How to turn into a better and healthier relationship?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):Today, data is shared and used in clear text in almost all application scenarios. Because data exists in digital rather than physical form, it has no exclusivity, so what you see is what you get makes the “use” and “possession” of data virtually indistinguishable.

This form of plaintext data storage actually causes the natural opposition and contradiction between data sharing and privacy protection. Even if the mode of releasing sensitive information after removing it is adopted, the user’s identity can be determined by means of quasi-identifier identification.

The existence of this contradiction is a major obstacle to the development of the industry which has a large amount of data application demand. PlatON’s private computing is the best solution, or even the only solution, to solve this contradiction.

Through privacy computing, data can be circulated and shared in ciphertext state and used for computing, and the two states of “use” and “possession” of data can be completely separated. Data is “invisible but available”, so that data privacy can be fully protected, but the value of data can still be played.

In this fundamental change, the way of data sharing also has a fundamental change. All data-oriented computation will not need to transmit plaintext data and not be realized by centralized one-way computation as before. Instead, the computation results should be output by multi-party computation in secret state under the condition that data from multiple sources does not leave the local area.

Therefore, privacy computing makes data provider’s data no longer disclose plaintext, data rights are established, and data privacy is protected. The intermediate platform only provides the matching between the demander and the provider, and does not need to bear the pressure of data storage and computing power centralization. The regulatory department will use its unique mode to realize the model algorithm of “supervision” nature to ensure the compliance development of the industry and promote the continuous growth of the industry.

ID(wxid_jjjsnbsn64694):The rational allocation of scarce resources is one of the core problems in economic research. And chain as an open, free, everyone can participate in a distributed system, a well-designed economic model can be under the premise that maximize the interests of the participants, reasonable allocation of resources guarantee and chain, at the same time, the interests of all participants and the interests of the whole chain of alignment, in the pursuit of their own economic interests as well as contributing to the whole block chain network, To ensure the long-term and stable development of the network. What are the more important aspects of value?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):PlatON’s economic design objectives include:

  1. Select POS. We believe that the energy consumption of POW is too high. In the face of energy constraints in the real world, PoW’s market share cannot grow indefinitely.

2.Second, reduce the consensus cost. PPOS uses out-of-chain identity and credit mechanisms as well as programmatic arrangements, but reduces reliance on them through the randomness introduced by VRF. This can effectively curb bribery, collusion and other behaviors;

  1. Strengthen the coupling relationship between economic activities within the public chain and those supported by the public chain (i.e. data and computing power circulation market) to provide support for Token value;
  2. Endogenous inhibition of PPOS mine pool scale expansion.

As for PlatON’s economic design, you are welcome to communicate with us in more depth, and we are looking forward to hearing more suggestions and comments from the community.

ID(yun_05201314):In what ways can you participate in PlatON’s community building and share PlatON’s development?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):You can participate in PlatON by participating in its ecological construction and supporting the operation and development of the PlatON network, including but not limited to:

  1. Be the node, Staking incentives, Staking incentives, and Staking fees;
  2. Become the entrusting party and get the entrusting reward;
  3. To become a developer or researcher and receive Grants;
  4. Become a community builder and receive Grants;
  5. Participated in the Bounty program and offered suggestions for finding faults and bugs in PlatON network;
  6. Participate more in community activities like today’s, which is also part of PlatON’s community construction.

ID(ningning8040):Alaya, PlatON’s test network, was launched last year. Since its launch, Alaya has seen steady growth in users. Will PlatON continue to grow into private computing, or will it also grow into the blockchain space? What’s in it for the user?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):PlatON is positioned as a global private AI computing network, and private computing and blockchain are both part of PlatON’s technology implementation. Privacy computing enables the establishment of data rights and the compliant circulation of data, while blockchain provides incentives and governance tools for the collective participation of the global community.

From a macro strategic point of view, the development of these two fields will certainly be balanced, especially the two technologies are still in the relatively early initial stage, and both of them need to invest a lot of research and development efforts to continuously improve performance and deepen engineering implementation.

For now, PlatON has made initial progress with blockchain, as indicated by the main network’s release this month, so its future R&D efforts will be slightly more focused on private computing as well as on growth, as dictated by the current commercial market demands.

In other words, privacy computing allows users to more intuitively and concretely experience the value of PlatON, including protecting the privacy of users’ data, benefiting from the flow of data, gaining access to valuable data belonging to others, and so on. On the Layer2 APP terminal issue, on the one hand we will definitely work with the major wallets on the market today to make them part of PlatON’s Layer2 portal.

ID(fige71018):As for private computing, how can we ordinary people participate in private computing in the future? Will everyone’s Internet device be able to participate in private computing in the future? Will it also be closely related to IoT and other iot?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):Privacy computing + AI can be applied to almost any field where there is a need for data sharing and collaborative computing, most urgently in the financial, medical and advertising industries.

The privacy AI computing network implemented by PlatON is an infrastructure-level platform. In the future, all network behaviors of users will be supported by privacy computing technology, so as to protect the privacy of user data and ensure the safe and compliant flow of user data. It can be said that without the comprehensive popularization and application of private computing technology, human beings can not go further in the digital revolution.

Therefore, the statement that users participate in privacy computing can not actually describe the significance of privacy computing in the digital age, but network users cannot do without privacy computing is more appropriate.

These emerging information technologies, including AI and the Internet of Things, are working together with private computing and blockchain technology to build the future cyberspace, in which they have their own division of labor.

ID(dtz131419):In participating in PlatON node delegation, how to solve the problem of swiping number delegation to ensure fair competition of nodes? What are the ways to participate in the construction of the main network after the launch of the main network of LAT? Is it for everyone to participate?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):In PlatON’s economic scheme design, only those whose total LAT of pledge + entrustment ranks in the top 201 can be considered as alternative nodes. The alternative nodes participate in the validation node election of each consensus cycle, and can get the allocation reward of additional issuance of settlement cycle LAT.

In this mechanism, the use of one number delegate or multiple numbers delegate has no effect on the ranking, because the determining factor is the total amount of LAT of pledge + delegate, so there is no problem of brushing the number delegate.

Everyone can participate in the construction process of PlatON. The way to participate in the construction of the main network was introduced in yesterday’s event and will be explained again today:

  1. Be the node, Staking incentives, Staking incentives, and Staking fees;
  2. Become the entrusting party and get the entrusting reward;
  3. To become a developer or researcher and receive Grants;
  4. Become a community builder and receive Grants;
  5. Participated in the Bounty program and offered suggestions for finding faults and bugs in PlatON network;
  6. Participate in community activities and contribute to the growth of the PlatON community.

ID(Carry20201110):Why did PlatON choose privacy computing + blockchain as the core development direction of the project? What’s the connection between the two? PlatON’s slogan is that everything is computable. What does everything mean? Or what does it mean? And what does computation mean? I would like to know why you use this as a slogan? We often hear the term “business sandbox.” Can you explain what a business sandbox is?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):PlatON chooses privacy computing + blockchain as the core technology, which is the inevitable demand caused by the fundamental contradiction between the current business model of Internet giants and user privacy protection. The essence of the existing business model of Internet companies is to utilize user data for cash. In today’s Internet, people have been alienated into the carrier and tool of data. In the new digital era, people must return to the natural rights of individuals and “reduce” the Internet platform to the tools of people.

Traditional Internet giants will be limited by their inherent business models, making it difficult for them to compete with each other. Each generation of business giants has its own life cycle, and the traditional Internet giants will face an insurmountable crisis in the era of private computing. Data will become a new generation of production factors following land, energy, population and food, and the strategic importance of privacy protection will be highlighted.

Privacy computing allows users to keep their data locally, participate in computing in an encrypted state, and output calculation results and then upload them to the cloud for the computing initiator. The whole process of data has not been disclosed in plain text, data privacy has been fundamentally protected. At the same time, the value created by the data can be measured and distributed through the reasonable mechanism included in the blockchain, and the data owner can get a reasonable return from it.

The ultimate direction of the evolution of the Internet is that the form of information network that allows data to be transmitted from the end to the cloud will evolve into a computing network oriented to collaborative computing for data sharing. That’s what PlatON is saying, “Everything is computable.”

An example can be used to explain the “business sandbox” : China’s reform and opening up started in Shekou, Shenzhen. Shekou, a pilot demonstration zone, is actually a business sandbox. The sandbox has a completely real operating environment in which any new policy or business can be tested on a small scale, and if it works well, it can be rolled out to the whole country. Alaya is also a business sandbox where new applications can be tested and then pushed to the main PlatON network.

ID(lihuang64697978):After the global application ecological map has been combed, we will continue to conduct in-depth analysis of each application module, how to define PlatON’s positioning, find partners/teams, improve the PlatON application ecological map, and lay a foundation for the sustainable, stable and prosperous ecology.

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):PlatON is a standalone, full-fledged networking platform that includes Layer1 and Layer2. Layer1 is fully compatible with Ethereum interface and DAPP, adopts POS and asynchronous BFT consensus (TPS can reach 10000+), and supports EVM and WASM dual virtual machines. And the built-in privacy algorithm based on zero-knowledge proof, homomorphic encryption and other cryptographic algorithms at the bottom of the virtual machine can be used as the privacy financial infrastructure to expand and redefine the existing DEFI ecology.

Layer2 for AI network privacy, aims to create a global decentralized market of artificial intelligence and network, using incentive mechanism based on Token, motivate people to contribute their own data, developers are racing to develop more and better machine learning model nodes to provide a more powerful force, training the various functions of AI agent (real smart contracts).

These AI agents combine and collaborate to form a decentralized, self-evolving AI network for AI-based applications such as prophets, DEFI and DAOs. Based on this orientation, ecological participants can establish their position in PlatON’s ecosystem, which they can participate in to improve PlatON’s ecosystem.

ID(cherima):Recently I looked at the contract development on PlatON and found that the difference between PlatON and Ethereum is not that big. There is no development of privacy contract and verifiable contract. I wonder how the development progress of these two contracts is currently?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):The privacy contract is under development and is currently highly completed. It is expected to be submitted to the community for experience in a short period of time. The development of verifiable contracts has made a lot of progress, but it will take much longer. We will keep up with the community anytime there is a new trend. You are also welcome to share your thoughts on the development of privacy contracts and verifiable contracts in the forum. We are happy to discuss this with you.

ID(mnb479mnb):How can layer-2 break the privacy computing bottleneck? What do you think of the layer-2 privacy solution? Is PlatON’s private computing also done off the chain? PlatON is currently in the Beta World Beta Network phase. Can you tell us about the Beta World Beta Network? For example, how many verification nodes have participated in the test network at present, how much TPS of the test network has reached, and how stable is the network?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):In fact, the performance bottleneck of private computing is a relative concept. In fact, many applications of privacy computing can fully meet the commercial requirements in terms of performance. For example, the distributed key management we are doing is also based on secure multi-party computing, and the performance is fully enough for commercial use. Because it addresses the problem of reducing the risk of key management, performance is acceptable enough to support enterprise use.

For example, in the current privacy transaction, zero knowledge proves that the performance of relevant algorithms can be fully supported for commercial use. As for the improvement of private computing performance, on the one hand, it will definitely improve the algorithm continuously. On the other hand, PlatON will introduce dedicated computing hardware to greatly improve computing efficiency and reduce power consumption and cost. PlatON’s privacy computing covers a wide range of applications, from off-chain to on-chain, and so on. The New Bailey World Test Net has recently completed its mission and is now closed.

With over 160 nodes on the Alaya First network, the operation is very stable, and we are only two days away from being online for 6 months without any abnormal operation conditions. In a recent test, Alaya’s average TPS for regular transfers was over 9,600.

ID(18616872677):PlatON integrates blockchain, artificial intelligence, and privacy computing. At the current stage, can it be understood that the underlying distributed nodes of the blockchain superimpose privacy computing means to serve the pain points of multiple data computing of artificial intelligence technology? Will this kind of solution be used more in the future to serve the enterprise or to serve the public individual users?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):Let’s start with private computing and AI. Privacy computing based on cryptography and AI have a very compatible point, behind which is the fundamental contradiction between data collection and use. From the perspective of model accuracy, the more data the better; But from a data asset perspective, people don’t want to give their data away. Secure Multiparty Computing and other cryptographic-based privacy computing technologies are very suitable to solve this contradiction.

A typical AI project starts by identifying a problem, then collecting a valuable data resource and using it to train the AI. The key to this process is to collect as much and as much data as possible so that the AI can better predict what to do and when to do it.

However, in the current global environment, the demand for data leakage and privacy protection is getting higher and higher, which leads to the increasingly difficult acquisition of data resources. Traditional data acquisition methods are faced with huge problems in terms of compliance, which has become a serious obstacle to the development of AI industry to a considerable extent.

The emergence of private computing provides a viable solution to this problem, allowing data to be used without revealing the original content, thus helping AI projects to be trained efficiently from more sources and more reliable data, thus generating greater technological value.

Let’s talk about blockchain and private computing. In our opinion, blockchain and private computing are not necessarily related. The original form of the blockchain is Bitcoin. If you have read the white paper on Bitcoin, you will know that there is no privacy protection for Bitcoin. And in blockchain or Bitcoin, there are not so many cryptographic algorithms, most of which are signatures and hashes. The essence of the blockchain consensus is that all data is fully backed up and made public to everyone, with no privacy protection features from the start.

Thus, blockchain and private computing are relatively separate, but must be linked together. To put it simply, privacy computing is at the top of the business and can protect the privacy of data; Blockchain serves as a distributed economic infrastructure at the bottom, providing payment and settlement functions. In contrast to the division of labor of the PlatON team, the privacy computing team and the blockchain team are parallel, only to be combined in the future.

PlatON does not limit the domain or scope of its use. What we provide is the infrastructure capability on which eco-developers can develop various applications based on their own needs to meet the different needs of enterprises or individuals.

ID(Btca20201031):Why would PlatON introduce a WASM virtual machine at the same time it references an Ethereum virtual machine? What’s the difference? What are the advantages of the latter? What is PlatON’s commitment to cryptography? What are the core principles of PlatON governance? Can you tell us something about it? I heard that PlatON is coming to the mainnet, so what will the LAT be used for? I believe that everyone is very concerned about this issue after going online. Could you please introduce it?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):As blockchain applications demand more virtual machines and smart contracts, blockchain virtual machine technology is gradually improving. At present, the virtual machine based on WASM has been significantly improved in terms of speed and performance, supporting C, C++ and other programming languages, and the development threshold is lower.

To make blockchain application development easier, PlatON has launched a dual virtual machine engine that supports both WASM and EVM virtual machines. Blockchain applications that run on EVM-enabled backchains such as Ethereum can easily migrate seamlessly if they need to use PlatON for performance and other reasons.

EVM is essentially a scripted program that needs to be translated into instructions and executed by the compiler, rather than being read by the local machine’s CPU, which is inefficient. At the same time, EVM also has some problems in architecture and usage, such as:

Strong coupling, difficult to extend: there is an interdependent relationship between the chain itself and the interior of the EVM;

Lack of standard libraries: Basically there are no standard libraries in Solidity. You have to code yourself to implement relevant functions such as string comparisons;

Compared with EVM, WASM is an intermediate code with higher and faster running speed of smart contracts. It can be developed in any familiar programming language (C/C++/ Java), and has many features:

High performance: using binary code, superior performance in the process of program execution;

Multi-language support: You can write contracts in multiple languages such as C/C++/RUST/Go and compile the bytecode.

Rich standard library: Different languages have a rich standard library available;

At the same time, given the increasing number of projects using WASM, Ethereum, including the introduction of EVM virtual machines, is also beginning to switch to WASM. As WASM becomes more popular, its community ecosystem becomes more sophisticated.

In order to make it easier for existing WASM applications or developers familiar with WASM to switch to thePlatON ecosystem, PlatON has decided to introduce WASM virtual machines alongside the existing EVM virtual machines and implement dual virtual machine support.

We continue to collaborate with the global cryptography community in three main areas:

First, we continue to sponsor and host various cryptography conferences, including the Cryptography Innovation School (CIS), which we co-sponsor with Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Continued sponsorship of MeMi, OMi, MeMi and ZhongMi; Sponsorship of conferences and tournaments such as Inscrypt, Scripts, Idash, CCS, BIU, etc. It is no exaggeration to say that in the blockchain industry, whether IT is domestic or overseas, our sponsorship of cryptography industry conference is definitely the largest and this conclusion can even be extended to the entire IT industry.

Second, we will set up a joint laboratory with universities to conduct project research and development. At present, we have set up a scientific computing research center with Wuhan University.

Third, it continues to fund the cryptography research projects of university teachers at home and abroad, and cooperates with the cryptography authorities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University, Institute of Information Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Maryland, Northwestern University and many other universities.

The core principle of PlatON’s governance mechanism is that decision-making power should belong to “stakeholders,” meaning that power belongs to the people. However, the implementation cost, voter turnout, professionalism, governance efficiency and other issues should be taken into consideration when conducting the referendum. Therefore, the referendum should not be a normal governance, but a governance method in the case of major disagreements. In our PPOS design, the generation of alternative nodes itself is a kind of election, and the interests of nodes are closely related to the rise and fall of public chain ecology, so they should assume more governance responsibilities and have more governance rights. Therefore, in PlatON’s governance, we adopt the mode of combining direct democracy and indirect democracy. Its core principles are as follows: under normal conditions, governance is governed by voting by alternative nodes, that is, indirect democracy; Direct democracy is governed by open community vote in cases of major disagreement.

The use of LAT includes: data, models, computing power trading platform clearing unit; Verify the margin mortgage of nodes; The voting basis for participating in node election and community governance; The unit of account for ecological application.

ID(gpangbao0106):PlatON has attracted much attention since its launch. How does the project party view the blockchain industry in China? What potential does PlatON have to become a leader in the blockchain industry?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):First of all, I have to say that blockchain is still an industry in its infancy, and PlatON is a new platform, so we don’t dare to say anything about the industry.

PlatON has its own interpretation of what blockchain means, which is essentially a specific financial infrastructure. Whether it is sharding, side chain or state channel, there is no single technology that can solve the problems faced by the infrastructure and can make and develop the infrastructure. It never was, it never is and it never will be.

The complexity of infrastructure is very high, and its stability comes from the comprehensive application of various technologies. Science and technology are different, and technology and engineering are different. Blockchain is a very large system engineering. So to be honest, most of the “public chains” in the world have no operational and technical experience in infrastructure construction, so they don’t know how difficult it is.

In other words, the practice of this road cannot be carried by a few broad technical concepts. It requires teams with real infrastructure experience to work on it sustainably for a long time. Most of today’s “public chains” will be dissolved into a number of “protocols” for the final infrastructure, and that’s as good as it gets.

For PlatON, on the one hand, it has been at the forefront of the exploration of private computing and has many years of practical experience in large-scale distributed systems. Most importantly, PlatON has a deep understanding and practice of the infrastructure that supports large-scale trading of data assets.

On the other hand, the core team built by PlatON around its mission and vision is mostly from the fields of financial and telecommunications infrastructure. It is a team that truly understands the industrial and social value of blockchain, and is truly capable of making blockchain a public infrastructure in the future full digital era.

As a result, PlatON’s technical approach is very pragmatic, choosing the best solution from the mature consensus solution in the current market, and then improving and optimizing on top of it. We designed the blockchain with security first, and then we made the tradeoff between decentralization and scalability. All of these are considerations for full commercial use.

PlatON’s core strengths can be summarized as:

Finance: profound working experience and resource accumulation in the financial industry;

Engineering: Strong software engineering system and implementation capability;

Privacy AI R&D: Over four years of continuous R&D investment and commercial practice in the field of privacy AI;

Business: rich experience in business operation and market cooperation resources.

ID(antingting67):What is PlatON doing to prepare for the future of technology in terms of current changes or new iterations of technology? How cohesive is the connection between the individual and the whole? In what ways and behaviors will it be reflected?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):On the road to the future of the all-digital era, the most important thing should be to establish our mission and vision. Otherwise, if the direction is wrong, the faster you go, the farther you will go.

We are very aware that in the online world, each of us has no rights. Whatever our real-world identity, whenever we are connected to a network and use a network service, we are enslaved to those services — contributing value, relinquishing rights, and getting nothing in return.

Therefore, technology, compliance, transaction, operation and other perspectives cannot be regarded as the core of our mission. Only from the perspective of human rights in the digital space can we explain and define our true ideals. PlatON also starts to find the corresponding technical means to solve the problem from here.

With this vision and mission, the rest of PlatON’s field is already at the forefront of information technology: private computing + blockchain + artificial intelligence, the track is just emerging; PlatON has a team that truly understands the industrial and social value of blockchain, and is truly capable of making blockchain a future public infrastructure in the full digital era. Through many years of investment in cryptography, we have also reached a leading position in the world in this field, from the academic to the technology to the product to the application, we are ready to respond.

Personally, I have been convinced that the mission and vision of the Foundation are so closely aligned with my personal ideals that it would be hard to find a career that fits so well in this lifetime. I will definitely devote the rest of my life to this cause as much as I can. Because it’s not about making a career, it’s about making a world.

ID(looks30):In addition to anonymous transactions and data flows, PlatON wants to bring private computing to Defi. But the existing anonymity is just a self-deception of “anonymity in the front and real name in the back”. The existence of the concept of “Big Whale” shows that we can track large traders. Dallas Lone Ranger owner Mark Cuban was able to find out what NFT art he had purchased because his trading address was tracked.

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):I am not sure why there is a distinction between foreground and background in decentralized systems. If this logic is followed, the user’s private key can also be searched in the “background”.

PlatON’s privacy Token standard hides information about both parties to a transaction and the amount of the transaction. Any dApp can be implemented based on this interface standard, which not only implements new anonymous tokens, but also anonymizes standard tokens. At the same time, the user identity can get rid of the ECDSA algorithm and use more cryptographic algorithms to realize the new user identity.

With this set of standards, PlatON is launching a privacy-protecting, interchangeable privacy Token supported by the PlatON network. Any transactions and changes to the rolling balance will always be encrypted to ensure anonymity and confidentiality. Each person can still query his (and only his) balance, as well as privately send tokens to others.

In this system, whatever you do (transfer, recharge, withdraw, destroy, mint, etc.) has complete privacy, which is the vision of programmable privacy and secret network. What PlatON is offering is a truly fully decentralized, private transaction model with absolutely no backend Settings.

ID(meiqqq119):PlatON has said in the past that the current phase of blockchain is particularly similar to the analogue to digital era of the 1990s. The infrastructure is far from being built, and applications are therefore far away. In the next step, the evolution of networks will shift from pure data exchange to computational exchange, i.e., “data interop” to “computational interop”. Why do you say that?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):The traditional Internet can be defined as a data-oriented information network where local data is collected (in many cases silently without the permission of the owner) and sent to the cloud, where it can be processed and mined to generate business value.

But the owners of the data are not authorized at all times, nor are they rewarded for the business value they create. What is more serious is that these data in plaintext form are directly sold after being collected, leading to the disclosure of a large number of private data, causing extremely bad social impact and economic losses.

Privacy computing will enable users to keep their data locally, participate in computing in an encrypted state, and output calculation results and then upload them to the cloud for the computing initiator. The whole process of data has not been disclosed in plain text, data privacy has been fundamentally protected. At the same time, the value created by data can be measured through a reasonable mechanism, and the data owner can get a reasonable return from it.

The ultimate direction of the evolution of the Internet is to evolve from the form of information network that transmits data from the end to the cloud to the computing network oriented to collaborative computing for data sharing.

ID(L1062882):Given PlatON’s technical architecture, the blockchain layer and the privacy computing layer have different functions. How does PlatON define the rights to data assets in the whole life cycle of data?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):Today, data is shared and used in clear text in almost all application scenarios. Since data exists in digital form rather than as an entity, there is no exclusivity, so the “what you see is what you get” feature makes the “use” and “possession” of data virtually indistinguishable, so there is no ownership of data assets.

For example, in the AI industry, on the one hand, massive data is needed to feed and train AI to become smarter and more powerful. On the other hand, limited by the strict requirements of data privacy protection, the amount of data that can be used in compliance is very short.

The proposal of privacy computing provides the best solution to the contradiction. Through privacy computing, data can be circulated and shared in ciphertext state and used for computation, and the two states of “use” and “possession” of data can be completely separated. Only the owner of the data can see the plaintext of the data, while the user of the data can only see the ciphertext of the data. Such “invisible but available” enables the ownership of the data to be established and the data privacy to be fully protected, but the value of the data can still be played.

ID(MIUI17337302666):I would like to ask about the current congestion of Ethereum network and the rapid development of Porca, sol and NEAR three new public chains. As a public chain project, how does PlatON view these competitors? Compared with them, what are PlatON’s advantages?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):First of all, it’s important to note that PlatON was never intended to be limited to a public chain project from the start. PlatON has a much larger vision and mission. Blockchain is just one technology that PlatON uses.

And PlatON has its own interpretation of what blockchain means, which is essentially a specific kind of financial infrastructure. Whether it is sharding, side chain or state channel, there is no single technology that can solve the problems faced by the infrastructure and can make and develop the infrastructure. It never was, it never is and it never will be.

ID(JerryWang998):How does PlatON evaluate the importance of private computing, why is it on this track, is the market really blue ocean, and what if no one wants PlatON’s future?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):PlatON has a whole set of thoughts on the importance of privacy computing. Human beings depend on social “order” for survival, but energy, land and population, as the basic elements of production in the traditional sense, are not enough to reflect and carry all social activities of human beings.

And the data represented by the digital age is constructed so that a new “order”, in which with the growing of human social networks “scale” nonlinear growth, the essence of the “data”, and the corresponding digital activities is to reduce the social network of “integrated operation cost”, which is human into the “digital age”.

The construction of a new order without data liquidity requirements and substantial growth, in the past few decades the practice of IT and the Internet, has led to parts of the human behavior transition to the network as a bus daily life the essence of change, but there is still no to map all of the physical life or transition to digital representation of network behavior.

So human society is only partially digitized, not “fully digitized.” The “full digital age” can be simply constructed as: node + data + connection. Without these three elements of sufficient scale, there will be no “emergence” of sufficient scale and no probable and reasonable “order”. The “free” flow of data based on a particular order has not yet been achieved on a large scale and cannot be judged to be fully digital.

However, data has been assigned, transferred and authorized before it has been strictly defined. By default or subconsciously, we have handed over the right to handle and use the data, and even in the process of doing so, we have handed over ownership. This issue must be defined and clarified through the emerging infrastructure, which requires a complete separation of ownership, use and disposal rights.

The essence of privacy computing is the basic component of “order” construction in the full digital age. Without the ability to process data ciphertext, the supply of “order” cannot be guaranteed. This is just like the emergence of mercantilist capitalism without the existence of the definition of private property and legal boundaries.

Private computing, a component of the capabilities on which the order of the full digital age depends, must be a fundamental endowment of the public infrastructure of this age. Its fundamental significance not only constructs the new order, constructs the new business, carries the new network, but also reconstructs the human behavior, further defines the human digital life and the accompanying “natural rights”. Therefore, we believe that private computing is the basic technology of the future full digital era. Unless human beings want to close the Internet and live without information data, it is impossible that no one needs private computing.

ID(Ainux123):Now we are accelerating the construction of decentralization. PlatON Network is called Distributed Privacy AI Network. Is this also an important extension of decentralization? What other applications will develop in the long run? NFT is also popular, will our project be close to this aspect? Besides, virtualization AR is also developing rapidly, will our project side consider integrating these future applications or developing these aspects separately in the future? Finally, how will our PlatON solve the cross-chain problem in the future? Will there also be high gas cost?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):Decentralization is an important aspect of PlatON’s thinking, but in terms of commercialization, it’s important to ensure security, and then the tradeoff between decentralization and scalability. PlatON’s application ecosystem will be built around data flows, provided by data providers, algorithmic model providers, and computing power providers.

NFT is a basic block chain application model, and we have supported it. The community voting on PlatON mainnet is based on NFT. In the future, you will see various types of NFT applications appearing on PlatON. In addition to common art and games, NFT is also focused on financial applications. PlatON has already implemented cross-links with Ethereum and Poca on the meta-network Alaya, and will migrate to the PlatON mainnet to achieve the relevant cross-chain capabilities after testing stability.

The initial $10 billion LAT issue for PlatON is based on the fact that transaction fees arise when transactions take off. We will carefully monitor the transaction fees on PlatON and take targeted actions to ensure that PlatON, as a financial infrastructure, does not have high gas fees.

ID(iopiopyu):I noticed that the cloud map can realize the multi-link mechanism. In the white paper, it is mentioned that the multi-link is a one-point access and the whole network service feature. Users can initiate transactions to any public chain. Does this require managers of other public chains to reset their public chains to adapt to PlatON? After the transaction is completed, is it enough for the user to use a single block browser called PlatON to find the transaction record in the browser?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):The multi-link mechanism is mainly for the subchains of PlatON (the target application chain), rather than any other common chain outside of PlatON. As a subchain of PlatON, there should be no adaptation issues, but it should follow the standards set by PlatON at the time of development.

Relevant transactions are recorded on the chain and can be displayed by any browser that grabs the information, not just PlatON’s blockchain browser.

ID(asd770880shanshan):Did you consider community feedback and needs during the development of PlatON? How do you evaluate PlatON’s long-term market? And how to fight for more market share? What difficulties did you encounter during this period? What positive steps have been taken?

PlatON Community Leader (Kai Yu):For PlatON, the principle has always been “community is more important than code.” A well-developed community ecology is the cornerstone of PlatON’s long-term development. We believe that with the launch of the mainnet, PlatON’s community will grow more and more prosperous and strong.

As a private AI computing network, PlatON doesn’t have its sights set on the current public chain, so it has no intention of “fighting” for a share of such a small platter. In the future, we will focus on the industry and ecology with data circulation as the core appeal, and develop and expand the community ecology unique to PlatON.

For this, we set up from academic research to the technology development to community development and so on a series of Grants program, industry oriented data in depth into, attract more experts and scholars from different fields, developers, partners, and community members to join, jointly build the future belong fully digital era of community ecology.
