U.S. Hopewell Bank Plans to Announce Bitcoin Escrow Business

The fifth-largest U.S. retail bank, U.S. Hopewell Bank, is expected to announce on Tuesday that fund managers can use its cryptocurrency custody service, CNBC has learned. The service will help investment managers store private keys for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin with the help of sub-custodian NYDIG, said Gunjan Kedia, vice chairman of the bank’s wealth management and investment services division. Over time, support for other currencies such as ethereum is expected to materialize.

HKMA: Hopes to present initial ideas for digital HKD e-HKD in mid-2022

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority yesterday released a technical white paper on e-HKD, which discusses potential technical design options for the issuance and distribution of digital Hong Kong dollars, and Chief Executive Yu Wai-man said the release of the white paper marks “the first step” in the HKMA’s technical exploration of digital Hong Kong dollars.
The HKMA said it would consider technical and policy factors and hoped to come up with initial ideas by the middle of next year.
