State Senator Sydney Kamlager-Dove, a California Democrat, filed Senate Bill 1275 last week to consider allowing residents to pay for government services in the form of cryptocurrency, according to TheBlock on Feb. 21. This month, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis promised to let residents pay their taxes in cryptocurrency by summer, though such payments would be converted to legal tender before the state takes possession. And legislation filed in Illinois in late January aims to let the Department of Revenue accept cryptocurrency directly.
