Gene Ludwig served as comptroller of the currency during President Clinton’s administration from 1993 to 1998. He argued that instead of trying to use central bank digital currencies, regulators should “allow banks to play a more active role in the crypto market, and if we’re going to allow crypto, banking is the right place to do it because it’s regulated.”
