Former U.S. OCC Administrator: Digital assets belong in traditional banking

Golden Finance reports that former Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) Director Gene Ludwig told the annual meeting of the New York Institute for Banking Policy on Tuesday that digital assets are part of traditional banking and more crypto business and innovation should be shifted to the traditional banking sector. Gene Ludwig served as comptroller of the currency during President Clinton’s administration from 1993 to 1998. He argued that instead of trying to use central bank digital currencies, regulators should “allow banks to play a more active role in the crypto market, and if we’re going to allow crypto, banking is the right place to do it because it’s regulated.”
